Provide home-based care to patients with six months or less to live, focused on quality of lifeWork as part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain and volunteers to carry out the patient's plan of carePerform patient assessments, check vitals, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medication and treatmentsEnsure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication and other suppliesEducate family on the patient's prognosis, changes in care plan, medication and hospice goalsTake a holistic approach to care that engages the patient's mind, body, spirit and familyA few must-haves for Hospice Registered Nurses:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensed to practice as an RN in Kansas.
The license is active and in good standing.
Twelve (12) months of accumulated experience as a registered nurse within the last five (5) years or, if no experience within the last five (5) years, evidence of current (within the last 12 months) clinical knowledge as deemed appropriate by the DHCS.
If a new graduate, 1200 verified hours of employment as a graduate or registered nurse within the last twelve (12) months or evidence of completion of a company-approved Preceptor Program.
One (1) year of hospice care experience preferred.
